ENSUREAL presented at Indo-European Meet

On the 18, 19 and 20 September 2019, RemovAl, together with the SCALE and ENSUREAL projects, was presented at the Partnership Instrument EU-REI event “Indo-European Meet on Resource Efficiency in the Aluminium Industry with a Focus on Effective Utilization of Red Mud (Bauxite Residue)”. Bauxite Residue on focus in the newest JRC report

Latest JRC science for policy report includes special chapter on the Bauxite Residue handling and recycling. The report, titled Recovery of critical and other raw materials from mining waste and landfills, focuses on the untapped potential to extract strategic raw materials from mining waste and landfills in Europe. The chapter, titled “Bauxite Residue as a resource in Europe”, gives the context of the existing situation and also focuses on the potential innovations that projects such as SCALE could contribute, towards a zero-waste solution.

RemovAL’s 2nd progress meeting held in Norway

The 2nd RemovAL progress meeting was held on 3-4 April 2019, in Kristiansand Norway hosted by ELKEM – one of the project’s demonstrators. During the meeting, which marks the first year of the project, the RemovAL technologies where reviewed both technically and financially. The next project meeting will take place in November 2019 in Leuven.

RemovAL promoted in PDAC 2019

RemovAL project was featured prominently as part of the European Commission participation in PDAC 2019. PDAC is the world’s biggest Mineral Exploration & Mining Convention, held in March 3 – 6 inToronto, Canada. RemovAL’s research work was promoted with infographics and video projections in the EU booth, which provided H2020 projects with the opportunity to reach the conventions’ 25,843 attendees from more than 130 countries, including prospectors, students, Indigenous peoples, government officials, investors and executives.

RemovAL’s first progress meeting concluded

RemovAL’s first Project meeting took place in Brussels on the 15-16th of November hosted by European Aluminium. At the six month mark, the project is building momentum by cross checking technologies and residues while moving forward with pilot plant installations.

RemovAL presented in REMIX peer review 7

RemovAL participated in the 7th REMIX Peer Review event, that took place in Delphi, Greece, from the 16th to the 18th of October, 2018. Thymis Balomenos from Aluminium of Greece presented RemovAL, in the context of the session titled “European projects: innovation in the service of civil society”.
